veteran NCCU DB known for physical tackling and big-hit presence
Derek Harvey’s profile at North Carolina Central shows a long-tenured defensive back who brings experience, toughness, and run support to the Eagles’ secondary.[3] In NCCU’s 2009 coverage, he was credited with a career-high 15 tackles in a game and an assisted sack, which fits the picture of a physical, tone-setting defender rather than a pure ball-hawk.[9][15] His season stat line in the available records is modest on interceptions and passes defended, but that can actually signal a more assignment-sound safety/corner who’s valued for reliability, contact, and veteran edge.[1][11]
