Duke’s hulking, high-IQ veteran tight end who does the dirty work
In the 2023 season, Cole Finney brought steady veteran value to Duke as a 6-foot-7, 260-pound tight end who played 40 career games, caught 9 passes for 148 yards, and logged 802 snaps—so the stats don’t scream star, but the role absolutely matters[1]. He’s an Academic All-ACC type with real length, blocking utility, and scheme flexibility, the kind of tight end coaches trust in big moments more than highlight reels[1]. If you want a reliable, assignment-sound glue guy who helps an offense function, Finney fits; if you need a volume receiver, this isn’t that flavor of TE[1].
