veteran Torero DB with some serious special-teams DNA
Chase Mattox’s profile suggests a tough, team-first defensive back who adds value beyond the box score, especially on special teams; San Diego’s own historical notes show him contributing in 2003 as both a defender and return-game piece, which points to versatility and trust from the staff. Because current, season-specific 2026 stat detail wasn’t available here, the safest read is that Mattox stands out more for dependable depth, physicality, and willingness to do the dirty work than for flashy numbers. If your team needs a grinder with multi-phase value, he’s the kind of fit that quietly makes a roster better.
