Sean Graves was a tackling machine for Akron’s secondary
In the 2012 season, Akron safety Sean Graves delivered a strong all-around defensive profile, finishing with 110 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 0 passes defended on ESPN’s team stats page. He stood out as a physical, reliable run-support safety who could clean up plays downhill and rack up volume stops, not just chase highlight-reel turnovers. Akron also recognized him with Academic Honorable Mention, which hints at the kind of steady, dependable presence coaches tend to trust. If you want a tough, assignment-sound safety with production and football IQ, Graves fit the bill.
