The steady floor general who powered WVU’s rise
J.D. Collins was a high-IQ, defense-first guard whose calling card was control: in the 2004-05 season he averaged 3.8 points and 114 assists, and West Virginia credited him as a senior floor leader with excellent ball-handling, solid decision-making, and strong competitive fire. He isn’t a volume scorer, but if your team needs a poised organizer who elevates teammates, brings toughness, and won’t blink in big moments, he fits the mold beautifully. West Virginia also noted his career 277 assists ranked 15th in school history.
