Grant Newsome’s path from gutty Michigan tackle to rising OL coach is pure big-picture value
Grant Newsome is less a box-score player and more a culture-and-technique asset: he was a starting Michigan left tackle in 2016 before a catastrophic knee injury nearly cost him his leg, and that comeback story has fueled his coaching rise. Michigan moved him back to offensive line coach in 2024, and the program credits him with helping an OL that averaged 5.4 yards per rush in 2025 and allowed 21 sacks. If your team wants toughness, credibility in the room, and a coach who’s lived the trenches, he’s a yes.
