young safety with developmental upside, but no current stat trail
Grant Mercer is listed on Youngstown State’s football roster as a safety, but the available roster bio shows no current-season stats or recent playing-time production to measure his impact yet.[1][2] That means the safest read is that he’s more of a developmental piece than a proven on-field difference-maker right now, with the main value being positional depth and potential growth rather than proven production.[1][2] If you want a ready-made starter, there isn’t enough public evidence here; if you want a rosterable safety to develop, he fits that profile.[1][2]
