Gardner-Webb safety to watch in 2026
Matt Stack’s current impact is hard to verify from the available public data, but Gardner-Webb’s 2026 roster lists him at safety, a spot that rewards range, communication, and downhill run support[1]. If he’s the kind of defender who plays with edge and reliability, that’s exactly the profile coaches covet—especially in a defense that needs steady tackling and clean coverage fits. The biggest question is whether he can turn opportunity into production this season; if he does, he’s the sort of under-the-radar fit that can quietly upgrade a secondary[1].
