Rony Nelson’s Iowa State buzz is old-school Cyclone grit, not new-season headlines
Rony Nelson is a former Iowa State defensive end whose Cyclone career showed steady pass-rush flashes, including 2 sacks in 2012 and 1 sack in 2011, plus the kind of toughness coaches love: he worked back from a redshirt year and offseason foot surgery before earning game action. Iowa State staff noted in spring 2012 that he had shown playmaking ability and could help rush the passer, which points to a hard-nosed, disruptive edge profile. If you want a defender with resilience, motor, and developmental upside, he fits the mold.
