Justin Hamilton brings veteran defensive DNA to Virginia Tech’s back end
Virginia Tech’s Justin Hamilton stands out as a versatile, physical safety-turned-defensive leader whose value goes beyond the box score: he’s known for teaching, disguising coverages, and helping the Hokies generate turnovers, with Virginia Tech’s 2020 defense ranking third in the ACC with 12 interceptions under his guidance. His differentiator is football IQ and adaptability—he played multiple positions in college and translated that feel into coaching, which makes him a strong fit for a defense that wants disciplined, aggressive secondary play.
