Melvin Ely was a paint-dominant force at Fresno State
In the 2001-02 season, Melvin Ely was a loaded two-way center for Fresno State, averaging 23.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks while shooting 56.3% from the field[8]. He was a high-motor interior anchor with elite shot-blocking, double-double upside, and rare scoring polish for a big man, which is why he finished as the Bulldogs’ all-time leading scorer and blocks leader[1][2]. If you want a bruising, high-impact rim protector who can also carry an offense in the post, Ely was exactly that — and then some[2][11].
