Troy’s veteran ball-hawking safety who turned steady production into a pro career
Dell Pettus is a high-IQ, physical safety whose value comes from consistency, toughness, and play recognition more than splashy box scores: Troy listed him as a 2023 All-Sun Belt Second Team pick and a 2019 Freshman All-American, and he later earned an NFL roster spot with New England after going undrafted in 2024. His differentiators are experience, reliable tackling, and a reputation for doing the little things well, which makes him appealing for teams that want a disciplined defender who fits into structure and competes with edge rather than a pure turnover merchant.
