D.J. Clayton brings veteran wing scoring and rebounding to Illinois State
In his Illinois State stint, Clayton has been a do-it-all guard/wing who can score, rebound, and defend with energy; his 2016-17 Redbirds profile shows 6.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, plus a team-high bench role that hints at real impact beyond the box score. He’s the kind of player coaches love for toughness, versatility, and instant competitiveness, though his long-term fit is best as a complementary piece rather than a usage-heavy creator.
