Indiana freshman April Perla brings a developmental upside package behind the plate
Perla is a freshman catcher for Indiana with a clear long-term upside profile: she arrived in November 2025, is listed at 4-foot-10, and comes from Marlboro High School in New Jersey, but Indiana has not posted any collegiate stats for her yet. That makes her more of a projection than a proven production piece right now, but catchers who earn roster spots early often offer value through game-calling, toughness, and attention to detail before the box score shows it. If you want immediate stats, she is not there yet; if you want a young, coachable defensive investment, she is worth tracking.[1]
