Royal Ivey was a defensive-minded Texas guard and Final Four starter
Royal Ivey’s Texas profile is built on toughness, versatility, and defense: he was a four-year starter who played both point guard and shooting guard, earned two Big 12 All-Defensive Team honors, and helped drive the Longhorns to the 2003 Final Four and three straight Sweet 16s. In the 2003-04 season, he added 9.4 points per game and 4.3 assists per game, showing real two-way value. The big takeaway: if you want a guard who competes, defends, and stabilizes winning, Ivey was exactly that kind of player.
