Projectable Righty with Early Run Prevention and Room to Climb
Umlandt is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound sophomore RHP for Portland who has opened 2026 with a 2.57 ERA and 7 strikeouts, showing the kind of early command and competitiveness that plays in a bullpen or starter-development role.[1] His selling points are a projectable frame and real arm strength, with prep reports noting his fastball has reached the mid-80s and that he has continued to add velocity over time, which suggests more upside than the box score alone shows.[2][4]
