Big, durable lefty who led USF’s staff in Ks
Edwin Alicea is the kind of 6-foot-5, 240-pound left-hander coaches love because he can take the ball, work deep, and miss bats: in the 2026 season for South Florida, he made 19 appearances with 10 starts, logged 72.1 innings, struck out 60, and held opponents to a .253 average while serving as the Friday starter for much of the year. He also earned a reputation for finishing strong, with multiple quality starts and enough starter-reliever flexibility to fit different staffs. The tradeoff: his 5.23 ERA and 28 walks show he’s more power-and-upside than finished product.
