Mike Wiand is a steady, high-motor linebacker with Penn State roots and serious tackling chops
Mike Wiand’s Penn State profile shows a linebacker built on effort, depth value, and special-teams upside, with ESPN listing him on the Nittany Lions roster in 2026 and Penn State identifying him as a redshirt freshman depth piece who was also active in the Blue-White Game. His early appeal is his toughness, willingness to do the dirty work, and a background that suggests a coachable, team-first defender rather than a flashy stat-chaser. If you want an instinctive, physical LB who can help the rotation and bring edge every snap, he fits the bill.
