Austin Ackel’s arm is still a live project for ULM
In the 2025 season, the UL Monroe right-hander appeared in six games, made one start, posted a 7.11 ERA in 6.1 innings, and did not allow a run over his final four outings; he also flashed a strikeout in two innings against Little Rock and started vs. Arkansas, which hints at a pitcher the staff trusted in bigger spots. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Ackel’s value is his size, two-way athletic background, and recent move from football to full-time baseball—an intriguing upside bet if you want a developmental arm with real toughness and some starter/relief flexibility.
