Cal Poly Guard Shows Grit in Limited Role After High School Scoring Pedigree
Jared Rice, a 5-10 guard from Cal Poly, brings a high-work ethic and natural leadership mindset honed at Central Catholic HS, where he averaged 15.4 PPG as a varsity standout in 2015 [1][2]. While his current Cal Poly stats are modest (2.0 PPG, 0.6 REB, 0.5 AST in limited appearances) [6], his differentiator is intensity and classroom discipline (4.14 GPA) [1], suggesting a player who thrives in structured environments and elevates teammates off the bench. He’s not a primary scorer yet, but a reliable, intelligent fit for teams needing defensive pressure, ball-handling depth, and a leader who won’t quit—ideal for a culture-first roster, though not a go-to offensive option in 2025-26.
