Norfolk State's Steady Backup Sparkplug with Elite MEAC Steals
Marese Phelps, a battle-tested senior point guard for the Norfolk State Spartans, averaged 4.1 points, 2.4 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and a standout 1.3 steals per game (9th in MEAC) in 20.5 minutes during the 2013-14 season, showcasing his pesky on-ball defense and reliable backup playmaking without forcing shots (32.5% FG). His high-motor intensity and low-turnover savvy make him a coach's dream for depth at guard—perfect for teams needing gritty, efficient bench energy over flash.
