Ian Cain brings left-side infield tools and a high-upside defensive profile to Kent State
In the 2025 prep season, Ian Cain was described by Prep Baseball Report as a toolsy infielder with advanced footwork, strong feel for the baseball, and enough defensive polish to stick on the left side at the next level. He arrives at Kent State as a 2026 freshman infielder from Avon HS, which makes him a developmental name worth watching rather than a proven college stat line yet. If you want upside, athletic hands, and a glove-first player with room to grow into more offense, Cain fits the bill.
