Mercer LB Jonathan Ward: rangy redshirt sophomore with upside
Jonathan Ward is a 6-foot, 218-pound redshirt sophomore linebacker for Mercer in the 2026 season, bringing a frame that fits modern run-and-cover duty and a background that suggests continued development rather than a finished product.[1] The big takeaway: he profiles as a physical, high-motor defender with room to grow, and that combination makes him more intriguing than a simple stat line can show.[1][2] For a team, the fit looks best if it wants a linebacker who can add depth, hit with intent, and keep ascending with coaching.[1][2]
