C.J. Byrd gives Southern a QB name to watch, but the public data trail is thin
C.J. Byrd is listed by ESPN as Southern’s quarterback, but the available public stat and bio footprint is sparse, so the safest takeaway is that he’s more of a watch-list name than a proven production machine right now. Southern’s 2026 roster page and team stats highlight Christian Johnson and other QB options, which suggests Byrd is still fighting for visibility in the room rather than carrying the offense. If he’s your kind of QB, look for live-arm upside and developmental appeal; if you need a polished, heavily documented producer, the evidence here just isn’t loud yet.
