Michael Thornton brings veteran depth and a cornerback’s instincts to Southern Illinois
Michael Thornton’s profile at Southern Illinois points to a veteran cover man with enough size and experience to hold up on the boundary, and his value is in reliability more than splashy box-score stats. He has been listed as a left cornerback for the Salukis, and that kind of assignment usually means the staff trusts him with tough matchups and discipline in coverage. The biggest reason to care: he looks like a steady, coachable defender who can fit into a system that values consistency, physicality, and assignment soundness.
