Ryan Schmidt is a 6'11" Illinois-state-to-Illinois walk-on guard with a grinder's edge
Ryan Schmidt’s most notable Illinois link is as a former four-year team manager who earned a walk-on roster spot in 2015, which screams hustle, buy-in, and locker-room value more than box-score flash. Publicly available season stat lines tied to the Ryan Schmidt/Schmitt name are sparse and heavily mixed with other schools, so there is no reliable current Illinois production profile to cite. The clear differentiator here is intangibles: he was trusted enough to make the leap from manager to roster player, a good sign for teams needing detail, energy, and culture-setting depth rather than headline numbers.
