John Butsch brings proven playmaking instincts and special-teams pop to North Dakota’s linebacker room
Butsch is a redshirt senior linebacker for North Dakota who transferred in after a standout 2023 season at Upper Iowa, where he led the team with 76 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks while also adding two interceptions and a blocked kick.[7][9] At UND, he saw action in four games in 2024 before an injury ended his season, with three solo stops and a quarterback hurry in limited work.[2] The fit is attractive because he has verified production, good size at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, and a reputation as an active, disruptive defender who can impact both defense and special teams.[1][5][9]
