championship-caliber talent, brutal injury luck, and now a retired Utah legend
In the 2024 season, Cameron Rising remained a high-upside, big-game QB with polished pocket mechanics, plus mobility, and strong leadership, but his availability was the story: injuries repeatedly derailed him, and he medically retired in May 2025 after hand surgery recommendations. At his best in 2021-2022, he helped Utah win back-to-back Pac-12 titles and showed he can manage an offense, protect the ball, and make clutch throws. If you need a tough, experienced winner, he was a fit; if you need durability, that’s the red flag that ultimately ended the ride.
