Utah State’s steady linebacker with local roots and upside
Travis Shumway is a Blanding, Utah native on the Utah State roster, and the local-backbone angle matters: he brings hometown toughness, positional familiarity, and a blue-collar profile that fits a defense valuing effort and reliability.[1][2] In the 2026 season, public stat tracking shows Utah State’s defense has been active early, but Shumway’s own detailed game-by-game production isn’t clearly surfaced in the available data, so the best read is that he’s still more of a depth-and-development linebacker than a headline-chaser right now.[1][2][3] If your team wants a smart, physical linebacker with room to grow rather than a flashy stat-sheet thief, Shumway is a name worth keeping on the radar.[1][2]
