Alaka'i Mashima brings veteran depth and smart, assignment-sound play to Hawai‘i’s secondary
Mashima is a low-drama, high-discipline defensive back whose value shows up in reliability, special-teams experience, and academics as much as box-score production; Hawai‘i’s roster page notes a lone 2020 appearance on special teams and academic all-MW recognition, which points to a mature, coachable, team-first profile. He’s the kind of DB who can help stabilize a room, handle details, and fit well in a program that values consistency and accountability over flash.
