Gia Fernandez is a steady freshman bat with clutch contact for St. John’s
Gia Fernandez, a 2026 freshman 3B/INF for St. John’s, has already shown she can be a tough out: she’s hitting .316 with a .738 OPS through the 2026 season and has contributed timely hits, including an RBI single in an early February game. The knock on her is size? Not here—at 5-foot-3, she plays bigger than the frame, with a contact-first approach, infield versatility, and a competitive edge that showed up in her varsity days, when she broke Cedar Grove’s RBI record and represented the Dominican Republic national team. If you want steady defense, grit, and sneaky offensive value, she’s a smart fit.
