Big-leg upside, but Oregon’s punting picture has been inconsistent
In the 2022 season, Alex Bales handled seven punts for Oregon, averaging 36.0 yards with one punt inside the 20, but his most memorable snap was the mishandled punt in the Oregon State loss that helped swing the game[9][10]. He entered Oregon as a highly rated kicker/punter prospect, which hints at real leg talent, but his on-field résumé at Oregon shows more volatility than polish so far[9]. If you need a punter with upside and room to grow, he’s intriguing; if you need proven week-to-week stability, the tape says proceed carefully[10][13].
