Jake Mayers brings strikeout stuff and proven postseason value to Nicholls
Jake Mayers is a high-upside arm for Nicholls who has already shown he can miss bats at a big level, striking out 106 hitters in 2024 and earning ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team honors as a starting pitcher.[2][5] His calling card is impact stuff and competitiveness in pressure spots, though his 76 walks that season show command is the main separator between “good” and “dominant.”[1][2] If you want a pitcher with real swing-and-miss ability and postseason experience, he’s worth care; if you need polished control, he’s more of a power bet than a finished product.[2][5]
