Cody Payne brings efficient, low-usage frontcourt production for New Mexico
In the 2025-26 season, New Mexico forward Cody Payne has been a steady role player: 2.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game in 21 games, while shooting 50.0% from the field[1][3]. He profiles as a physical, no-frills forward at 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds who provides rebounding, simple finishes, and effort possessions rather than high-volume offense[1][3]. If a roster needs toughness, size, and a dependable glue guy, he fits; if it needs a featured scorer or playmaker, he is more complementary than centerpiece[1][3].
