Joey Reed’s role with NIU is still developing — upside as a utility TE, but limited public stat trail
Joey Reed is listed with Northern Illinois as a tight end, but the public roster/search trail doesn’t show a strong current stat profile, so the big story is projection rather than production. What stands out is that NIU still has him in the mix, which usually means a player with enough size, blocking value, or special-package usefulness to stay on the board. If you’re looking for an instant-impact receiving TE with proven numbers, the evidence isn’t there yet; if you want a developmental, role-flexible piece who can earn trust through physicality and details, Reed is at least worth a close look.
