a steady, winning-minded Gamecocks guard with championship pedigree
In the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, Olivia Gaines was a versatile South Carolina guard who helped the Gamecocks win an SEC regular-season title, an SEC Tournament title, and reach the Final Four, bringing energy, toughness, and bench impact rather than headline scoring. Her differentiators were experience in Dawn Staley’s demanding system, defensive grit, and a team-first style that fit winning basketball. If the question is fit, she profiles as a culture-builder and glue piece: the kind of player coaches trust because she understands pressure, embraces role play, and makes winning easier.
