Zach Strand brings proven pass-rush juice and veteran edge to Southern Utah
In the 2022 season, Southern Utah DL Zach Strand posted 35 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries in 10 games, a stat line that screams disruptive edge presence rather than mere space-eater[1][13]. He was also cited as a 2020 MEC Defensive Player of the Year and 2019–2020 first-team performer before arriving at SUU, which helps explain the mature, battle-tested feel he brings to the front seven[15]. The headline trait: he makes plays behind the line and has a reputation for showing up in big moments, including a WAC Defensive Player of the Week nod after a sack-heavy, turnover-forcing outing[9]. If your team needs a seasoned DL who can win with motor, leverage, and knack-for-the-ball production, he’s the kind of fit that raises the floor fast[8][9].
