Former Illinois standout Dominique Matthews brought scoring pedigree to UIC
Dominique Matthews entered UIC with a real guard pedigree: ESPN once labeled him the No. 1 shooting guard in Illinois and the state’s 17th overall prospect in the 2014 class, and he later earned Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors at UIC in 2017.[2][1] That combination points to a player with proven shot-making upside and enough burst to stand out when he is dialed in. For a team, the appeal is upside and guard scoring, though the available sources are older and do not provide current-season performance details or a full injury/update picture.[1][2]
