a battle-tested Bearkats linebacker with old-school grit
Saumell-Baston is listed by Sam Houston as a redshirt senior linebacker at 6-foot-0, 245 pounds, which screams sturdy, downhill defender rather than flashy stat-sheet hunter[1]. His edge is experience and physicality: the program’s roster history shows a long Bearkats connection, and an early Sam Houston sports update noted he was among the players who “played important roles,” hinting at a dependable, coach-trusted presence[1][2]. If your team wants a linebacker who brings toughness, size, and veteran steadiness, he looks like the kind of fit that quietly makes defenses better.
