Alex Day is NIU’s high-leverage bullpen arm with strikeout feel and multi-inning value
In the 2026 season, Northern Illinois pitcher Alex Day has worked 3.1 innings with a 10.80 ERA and 2 strikeouts, so the raw stat line is bumpy, but the usage tells the story: NIU has trusted him in relief, and he’s shown the ability to miss bats in short bursts. His calling card is competitive, no-quit bullpen work—earlier NIU notes show scoreless outings and multiple strikeout innings, and recruiting reports describe an athletic right-hander with a starter’s frame and a usable three-pitch mix. He looks like a fit for teams wanting upside, toughness, and depth more than immediate polish.
