Brian Merritt brings veteran coaching energy, not player stats, to Towson’s orbit
Brian Merritt is a Towson alumnus who reached the Tigers as a walk-on, then built a long coaching résumé across programs like LSU, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Morgan State, Hampton, New Mexico State, and USA Basketball. The differentiators that repeatedly show up in reliable bios and coach quotes are his **passion**, **competitiveness**, **energy**, and player-development background, plus a reputation for adapting and evolving in the game. If you care about fit, he profiles as a high-motor, relationship-driven basketball mind who can help with culture, recruiting, and development rather than box-score production.
