Nevada’s dependable lefty with Saturday-starter upside
In the 2026 season, Alessandro Castro entered Nevada as a preseason all-conference left-hander and one of the Wolf Pack’s rotation anchors, building on a 2025 breakout that earned him All-Mountain West First Team honors after he went 5-3 with a 5.33 ERA and 43 strikeouts over 72.2 innings. He showed real big-game value in 2025, including a seven-inning shutout gem against San José State to help clinch the MW title, and he’s valued for competitiveness, strike-throwing, and durability; the fit is strong for teams wanting a seasoned lefty who can steady a weekend staff.
