Rutgers' veteran DL leader who turned hustle into a Big Ten edge
Meekins is best known as a Rutgers football success story: a walk-on who rose to captaincy and finished with 17 career sacks, showing the kind of effort, toughness, and football IQ coaches love. Rutgers’ current public staff/roster pages list him as the Director of Football Academics rather than an active player, so he is not on the 2026 depth chart as a contributor. If you mean his playing profile, the differentiator was motor-plus-production: disruptive inside, reliable, and clearly respected for leadership and accountability.
