Joey Baran brings veteran contact skills and timely pop to Pitt’s lineup
In the 2026 season, Joey Baran has been a steady offensive piece for Pitt, hitting .270 with 8 home runs, 41 RBI, 12 hit-by-pitches, and a .437 on-base percentage, while showing real clutch value with multiple big-game moments for the Panthers[12][2][5]. The left-handed-hitting catcher is a grad-transfer veteran who already proved he can produce at a higher level, including a .303/.429/.402 line in 2024 at Western Kentucky and a strong resume at Weatherford, so his appeal is simple: reliable on-base ability, mature at-bats, and enough defensive flexibility and toughness to help a contending roster[1][11][10].
