Minnesota DB Traye Simmons brings senior depth and transfer experience to the Gophers secondary
Traye Simmons is a **senior defensive back** for Minnesota who arrives with a transfer background from College of the Sequoias and a listed frame of 5-11, 175, giving the Gophers an experienced, ready-made depth piece in the secondary.[6][4] He is worth watching because he adds mature, positional versatility and a competitive edge rather than just raw upside, which can matter a lot for teams looking for reliable coverage help and special-teams value.[6] Publicly available team and recruiting pages confirm his Minnesota commitment and roster status, but they do not provide current 2026 performance stats, so the best read is that he profiles as a depth/rotation DB with upside to carve out a role through consistency.[4][6]
