Nelson Peterson brings dual-threat juice to Texas Southern’s QB room
Nelson Peterson Jr., a 2026 Texas Southern freshman QB from Forney, arrives with legit upside: a three-star pedigree, over 5,000 career passing yards in high school, and a true dual-threat profile that adds run-game stress defenses have to account for. In his 2024 junior season, he reportedly threw for 2,298 yards with a 26–5 TD-to-INT ratio and added 731 rushing yards and seven scores, which screams creator, not caretaker. The big question is how quickly that playmaking translates against college speed—but if Texas Southern wants a quarterback with bounce, versatility, and a little swagger, Peterson fits the bill.
