Kevin Cates brings rugged rebounding and interior grit for Ball State
In the 2002-03 season, Kevin Cates gave Ball State a reliable frontcourt presence, averaging 5.1 rebounds and 22.5 minutes per game while scoring 3.4 points per contest. His best calling card was toughness: a rebound-first, defense-minded forward/center who did the dirty work and could help tilt possession battles. The main caveat was efficiency and foul management, as his field-goal rate was 42.1% and he averaged 4.0 fouls per game, but if your team wants a physical, blue-collar big who competes on the glass and anchors the paint, he fits that mold.
