UTEP’s veteran DB with real-ball production and coach-level pedigree
A.J. Sheppard is a seasoned UTEP defensive back whose profile stands out for experience, leadership, and proven takeaway ability rather than flashy hype. In UTEP’s recent stat pages, the DB production is anchored by a player with interception-heavy value and a sturdy tackling floor in the 2025 season, suggesting a defender who can diagnose, close, and finish. Beyond the box score, his background as a former UTEP defensive captain and later coach signals maturity, intensity, and football IQ—traits that usually translate well if a team wants a dependable, culture-setting secondary piece.
