dual-threat production and veteran poise at South Dakota
Ekern brings a sturdy, experienced QB profile with legit dual-threat juice: in the 2024 season at Minnesota State, he earned an NSIC Offensive Player of the Week nod after accounting for five touchdowns in a win over Northwest Missouri State, including four rushing scores and 265 yards of total offense[7]. He also showed downfield ability in the 2023 season with a 22-of-33, 328-yard, 2-TD passing line and two rushing scores[12]. The fit screams efficient, physical, and competitive — the kind of quarterback who can punish defenses with his legs while keeping an offense on schedule.
