Ball-hawking, playmaking DB who brought juice to UTEP
Nick Gathrite’s UTEP profile was built on impact plays: in the 2014 season, he played all 12 games, made two starts, and posted 29 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception, a fumble-return touchdown, and a team-leading 7 pass breakups. That kind of stat line screams disruptive, competitive, and fearless—he wasn’t just covering, he was hunting turnovers and making offenses uncomfortable. He also earned 2014 C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition, which suggests dependable work habits and buy-in. If you want a DB who can flash range, toughness, and big-play energy, he fits the mold.
